Social Media
As the community relations specialist, I was encouraged to get as creative as I could with social media. I loved hearing that because I enjoy social media so much!
Prior to starting the job, Facebook was the only social media presence that the county had. You can only reach so many people if your only presence is on one platform. During my fist week on the job, I created an Instagram and Twitter account for the county.

Before I started posting on the county's social media accounts, I created a fun and unique social media plan. I wanted our social media accounts to not only tell the public about county news and events, but also tell about our unique county history.

At that time, the county barely had 5,000 Facebook followers. By the time I left, the county had nearly 8,000 Facebook followers. What caused such an increase? I think making interesting and engaging content attracted a new audience. For example, each Wednesday was ''Way back Wednesday,'' and I would post historical county photos. Some photos that were posted were nearly 100 years old.
